Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, also known as 'The Pearl of the Adriatic', is one of the world’s most breathtaking walled cities. Once the capital of the Republic of Ragusa (1358-1808), it's now Croatia’s most popular tourist destination. Today, the pedestrian-only Old Town draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and is now the focus of a major restoration program coordinated by UNESCO. Beyond the walls, attractions include wine bars, seafood restaurants and five-star hotels. Also notable is that Dubrovnik was the filming location for King's Landing in the TV show 'Game of Thrones', and tours are offered for fans.

Learn More About Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik Old Town
Dubrovnik Old Town is known as one of the world’s most perfectly preserved medieval cities in the world. Dubrovnik once rivaled Venice as a trading port, with its huge sturdy stone walls, built between the 11th and 17th centuries, affording protection to this former city-state. Today, these walls enclose Dubrovnik’s historic center and its cobblestone streets are pedestrian friendly. It's perfect for enjoying views of the Adriatic, Baroque churches and charming homes.

Stradun
Dubrovnik's main street is a limestone pedestrian thoroughfare, bookended by bell towers and fountains. It is especially beautiful when illuminated at night.

Rector's Palace
Mansion and museum that exemplifies Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic architecture.

Tvrđava Minčeta
Towering, ancient stronghold looming over Dubrovnik.
Getting Around
No trains or trams exist in Dubrovnik, but it is easy to walk Old Town and surrounding areas. Public transportation via bus is another option, as are taxis.
