Enjoy learning underwater basics from a professional instructor and then SCUBA dive by the Big Island’s coral reefs on this undersea tour in Hilo.
Experience four hours of underwater fun while learning the key SCUBA diving skills you'll need to explore the coral reefs of the Big Island when you book this Hilo SCUBA diving class tour. Your tour includes two SCUBA tanks, healthy snacks, cool refreshments, and a great learning experience from a professional certified SCUBA instructor who will show you basic SCUBA diving skills before heading to experience an ocean dive near Hilo. Get 45 minutes of classroom time, followed by a 45-minute pool skills session and 45-minute open water reef dive. It's the perfect tour to take whether you're SCUBA certified or a novice.
Start your underwater adventure by hopping in a taxi cab near your port in Hilo to a local dive school. When you arrive, you'll meet up with your professionally trained SCUBA instructor for a 45-minute morning class. Discover how to breathe underwater the right way and learn underwater communication skills. You'll also learn what to do in case of an emergency.
Next, your instructor will teach you how to dive in an indoor heated pool before heading out to the open waters near Hilo Bay and its beaches to see the coral reefs and its inhabitants. Hilo's coastline is home to hundreds of indigenous reef creatures that you'll likely come across, such as the Hawaiian green sea turtles, yellow tang fish, and reef mantas' gentle manta rays that are the largest types of rays with a wingspan that can grow up to 14 feet wide. You'll get 45 minutes to learn pool skills, including how to swim underwater and perform a proper vertical dive. Conclude your tour by heading over to a nearby beach and spending 45 minutes SCUBA diving in open waters among the reef's marine residents like tropical fish before returning to your port.

We recommend wearing comfortable, seasonal clothing over a swimsuit. Please bring reef-safe sunscreen, a beach towel and a bag to hold your personal items while diving.
Restrictions
All participants must be able to swim unassisted in the open water. Minimum age is 14 years old. Large amount of walking with heavy equipment is required, often over unpaved and uneven terrain; participant should be in good physical health to take this tour. Guests with prohibitive physical ailments such as back, neck, or other injuries affecting their ability to balance are not recommended for this tour. Guests experiencing sinus congestion or guests flying within 24 hours of tour date are not recommended to participate. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
