Tanzania Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti Safari Extension
Following your climb, indulge in some less-strenuous adventure on game drives in three of Tanzania's best parks, two of which are UNESCO-listed. At Lake Manyara watch for tree-climbing lions, then head to Ngorongoro Crater, a massive caldera teeming with wildlife. The Serengeti is well known for the world's largest and longest migration, where you may catch herds of wildebeest and zebra on the move. The Maasai people indigenous to the region warmly share their culture with you. Each night you will retire in comfort at exclusive deluxe safari camps.
  • Explore the most famous parks of Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti on thrilling safaris
  • Discover off-the-radar parts of Serengeti, where few have traveled for over half a century
  • Meet the indigenous Maasai people of the Crater Highlands and witness their traditional customs

Guides
MT Sobek: Tanzania Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti Safari Extension

James Kivuyo
James was born in Arusha, Tanzania, and has been guiding since 2000. He is passionate about the conservation of biodiversity in African wildlife and has led hundreds of walking safaris through the Serengeti. James speaks many languages, from English and Masaai to the local dialect of Chagga and Kiswahili—the national language of Tanzania. His language skills help him to communicate with people from a broad cultural spectrum and he loves sharing experiences with travelers from around the globe. James is also a qualified Kilimanjaro guide and has assisted summit bids for over a decade.

Joseph Ndunguru
Joseph is affectionately known as ‘Africa’s Smallest Giraffe’ by his fellow classmates at the Mweka Wildlife College. He is a passionate conservationist who was one of only four Tanzanians to be offered a UNESCO Grant to study Conservation and Park Management at University of Michigan. After completing his degree, Joseph returned to the Ngorongoro conservation area to work on anti-poaching initiatives. Despite his recognition and promotion, Joseph prefers to share his enthusiasm of the natural world with visitors as a safari guide in Tanzania.

Can I book this as a trip instead of as an extension?

This itinerary was designed with the Tanzania Climb Kilimanjaro trip in mind. At this time, it can only be booked as a post-trip extension for that trip.

How can I book this extension now that I’ve booked on the Tanzania Climb Kilimanjaro trip?

Please give our trip consultants a call to book the extension.

Do I need vaccinations or malaria tablets?

We always recommend you speak to your doctor or a health professional about vaccinations and malaria tablets well in advance of your safari. At present, certain areas of Tanzania are affected by malaria.

Will there be wildlife roaming at camps and lodges?

Many of the areas are not fenced and contain wildlife roaming freely while you are staying in your safari lodges and camps, so remaining cautious is important.

What is a typical day like while on safari?

We suggest an early morning breakfast, followed by a morning game drive. You will spend the afternoon on a game drive, departing the park before sunset, returning to your camp for sundowners and a relaxing dinner.
